The Microsoft Solution Assessment Specialist is an integral part of the Microsoft Sales Team. Any successful migration or modernization project has one thing in common: great data was collected that generated valuable insights on precisely how the customer should proceed incorporating practical solution and cloud economic recommendations.
Solution Assessments deliver these valuable insights through channel-led, Microsoft approved assessments that use 1st and 3rd party discovery and visualized analysis tools to enable customer cloud migrations and modernizations. These assessments are cross-segment (Enterprise, Corporate, and Top Unmanaged SMB) and cover multiple Solution Areas (Apps & Infra, Data & AI, Modern Workplace, Security, and Biz Apps).
The Solution Assessment Specialists (SAS) primary role is to support the AE/ Specialist / Technical Specialist with driving Solution Assessments thru partners or Assessment Desk Suppliers that lead to positive CPE, Cloud revenue and new customer adds.?
This will be accomplished by performing the following:?
Participate with the Sales Teams during Portfolio Optimization (Territory Planning)
Deliver the right Solution Assessment to align with Customer needs and the Solution Area Sales Plays
Recommend Solution Assessment Partner and coordinate handoff to migration Partner
Scale through our “Solution Assessment as a Microsoft Service” suppliers
Allocate 1st or 3rd Party discovery tool (e.g. Azure Migrate/ Movere, Unify Cloud, CAST, Cloudamize, etc.) and orchestrate funding
Align analysis to the Customers desired outcome and Cloud journey incorporating cloud economics
Ensure Solution Assessment includes deployment path or P2P orchestration with a migration partner
Responsibilities
Todays Solution Assessment Specialists are at the lead of helping every other customer facing sales role obtain the information they need to drive our customers success. They not only drive the capture of customers IT infrastructure data, but play an instrumental role in driving the translation of that data into meaningful insights that directly leads to app and cloud migrations and modernizations.
Key Areas Of Responsibility – What SAS’s Do
Assessment Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrates subject matter expertise in Solution Assessments and cloud migration.
Assessment Implementation: Acts as a trusted advisor to consult on effective plan deployment and new opportunity developments.
Strategy & Planning: Supports pre-sales and pipeline generation. Identifies and reviews new engagements, advising on which are strategically worth pursuing.
Partner and Supplier Relationship Management: Leverages and strengthens collaborative relationships across extended partner teams.
Discovery Tool Expertise: Advises customers, partners, and team members on how to maximize Solution Assessments and migration tools.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who specializes in understanding the available Microsoft Solution Assessments and how they align to customer needs and incorporate Microsofts Solution Areas and products. This means having a deep understanding of 1st and 3rd party discovery and analysis tools that customers rely on to fully understand their IT environments. It also means having great relationships with global and local Microsoft Solution Assessment Partners who have the expertise to deliver these assessments.
Key Capabilities Required
Assessment Subject Matter Expertise: Champions Solution Assessment and cloud migration optimization. Advises customers, partners, and team members on elements that drive consumption and critical migration triggers.
Assessment Implementation: Presents Solution Assessment results and plan options back to customer leadership teams directly with or indirectly through partners and/or suppliers for complex accounts.
Strategy & Planning: Proactively engages in customer and accounting team research to gather insights for Solution Assessment planning across segments, technology, and/or accounts.
Partner and Supplier Relationship Management: Drives co-funded solution assessments with partners, suppliers, and/or assessment desk. Solicits localized expertise from partners regarding customers’ markets and business to deliver catered solutions. Oversees partner onboarding and training (e.g., tools, warranty, priorities).
Discovery Tool Expertise: Clearly articulates the business value in using various tools and/or ISV Solutions, and makes influential recommendations on which tool is most appropriate for customers’ desired outcomes.

Key Experiences And Education
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Finance, or related field AND 4-6 years of practical experience in solution sales, technical sales, marketing, communications licensing, and channel/business development experience,
OR
Relevant certifications from Microsoft or competitive platforms AND 3-5 years solution sales, technical sales, marketing, communications, licensing, or channel/business development experience.
Skills
Local language required at discretion of the hiring manager.
Required within Year 1 of Role: Azure Fundamentals or equivalent, plus required Role Learning Requirements.
