We are looking to hire a BG Processing Leader in our B&W R&D, South Asia team based in Mumbai:
Our new Beauty and Wellbeing (B&W) Business Group is a key driver of growth and profitability for Unilever. B&W is a fast paced and innovation driven business group, with a high degree of consumer engagement, and offers talented people the opportunity to shine, make a real impact to the lives of consumers and to the business, as well as to learn and grow. With the strategic importance of South Asia, and the technical leadership of both local and global brands, our South Asia R&D team will play an essential role in delivering this strategy.
A critical enabler for success is to develop a world-class Processing capability in South Asia. Alongside working with global formulation teams to deliver ground-breaking innovations, this team will also be responsible for developing exciting new process technologies and concepts to revolutionise manufacturing practices in the region.
We are seeking a strong technical leader to develop this capability and lead this exciting programme. You will partner global formulation teams to develop factory ready innovations in South Asia and across the world, define and lead key areas of the B&W Processing global strategy, and integrate these seamlessly with the local programme.
You will report to the Global Processing director based in the UK with a strong dotted-line relationship to the South Asia Business Unit leader.
Lead the development of a high performing Processing function in South Asia with accountability for delivery of all global programme elements.
Lead the process development programme for global innovation projects and innovation platforms led from South Asia
Pioneer new process concepts and technologies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing operations in South Asia and B&W global factory network.
Identify new opportunities for Processing to create additional value for B&W (savings, superiority, and sustainability)
Direct line management of manager responsible to deliver local programme.
Drive a culture of personal growth and professional excellence for the Processing function. In particular, develop technical skills programme to build and maintain Processing excellence in South Asia
Build the requirements of South Asia Processing team into the B&W global Processing strategy and vice-versa.
Lead the development and adoption of new digital technologies and approaches to process development.
Develop and lead multiyear CapEx investment programme for South Asia pilot plant operations.
Set and maintain the highest professional standards for B&W R&D Processing practice in South Asia.
Whilst all standards of leadership are important to the role, to be successful, inner game, technical depth, agility and passion for high performance will be critical. In addition, you can demonstrate:
Excellent communication / influencer (written & verbal), with ability to both translate complex scientific ideas and hypotheses into key messages for cross-functional stakeholders.
Proven skills in building, coaching, training and line-management of high-performing teams.
Change management skills to adapt to new/evolving R&D structures and drive change through evolving technical roles and ways of working.
Ability to navigate complex global networks and lead multi-functional, multi-cultural teams spread across multiple geographies. Proven track record of OTIF delivery of innovation projects and/ or project management
In-depth analytical thinking (fault diagnosis, collection and analysis of relevant data, well-founded conclusions).
Expert knowledge of structured liquids form
